Regional Training of Trainer Workshops
INEE Regional Training of Trainer Workshops (TOT) build upon the regional networks created during the development of the INEE Minimum Standards. TOT workshops provide an opportunity for education and humanitarian staff to come together once again to learn about the INEE Minimum Standards in way that prepares them to conduct trainings on the minimum standards for staff all over the world.TOT workshops take place over the course of three days, but the process continues as each TOT graduate is required to conduct a minimum of two follow-up training workshops on the INEE Minimum Standards within 12 months of completing the INEE TOT workshop. This commitment means that throughout 2008, some 225 trainers will in turn train thousands of humanitarian workers, government representatives and education personnel, strengthening the capacity of humanitarian response, education and protection workers by equipping them to provide the psychosocial, physical and cognitive protection that quality education can afford to communities in crisis.
In 2007, the INEE Working Group continued to facilitate the regional Training of Trainers process on the INEE Minimum Standards. Nine out of eleven workshops were completed by the end of 2007, training over 225 education and humanitarian staff. The final 2 Training of Trainer workshops for the Caribbean and Indian Ocean regions are now being planned for 2008.

INEE Regional Capacity-Building Workshops
As the community of users of the INEE Minimum Standards continues to grow around the world, and with increased accumulated knowledge about its implementation in practice, the INEE Working Group on Minimum Standards recognised the need to support dissemination and sharing of this experience and knowledge among TOT graduates. Therefore, in 2007, the INEE Working Group began organising and facilitating a capacity-building process on the INEE Minimum Standards for graduates of INEE TOT workshops who had conducted at least one follow-up training on the standards since their original TOT workshop. These Capacity-Building Workshops provide opportunities for practitioners and policy makers to network, share information and learn lessons about the processes of training and institutionalizing the INEE Minimum Standards.
Two Regional Capacity-Building Workshops were conducted in 2007 for Anglophone and Francophone Africa, and one was held in 2008 for Asia.

National/Regional Focal Points on INEE Minimum Standards
As the community of users of the INEE Minimum Standards continues to grow around the world, the INEE Working Group on Minimum Standards recognizes the need to further support the dissemination of this experience and knowledge about the implementation of the standards. The INEE Working Group is therefore encouraging graduates of Training of Trainers and Capacity-Building Workshops to take a leadership role as national and/or regional Focal Points on the INEE Minimum Standards. Focal Points are the point of contact for those who seek to put the INEE Minimum Standards into practice and are responsible for coordinating and stimulating national and/or regional initiatives on the INEE Minimum Standards.A Focal Point is a voluntary activity, based on self-selection and with institutional support. Being a national and/or regional Focal Point on the INEE Minimum Standards might not require a great deal of time or work, but it does require a genuine interest in and commitment to INEE's principles of open collaboration, the value of the Minimum Standards and their wider and better application. Click here for a more detailed description of what a national and/or regional Focal Point is, what support can be expected from the INEE Secretariat, and the form you need to fill out and send back to the INEE Secretariat.
The INEE Working Group on Minimum Standards would like to acknowledge the contributions of all INEE member organizations whose staff are participating in this process and thank those organizations for their commitment to supporting staff carrying out follow-up trainings.
