Gender Roles Adaptation
This is an adaptation of simulation roles: the roles highlight with stronger emphasis gender concerns and issues in the community affected by the Zamborra crisis. For instance, there are additional roles of female community members and female youth. In addition, some other roles highlight issues of insecurity and protection for girls as the walk to school, traditional behaviours discriminating against girls access to education and appropriate water and sanitation facilities in schools. (Sean Corrigan: MA Thesis submitted to Department of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, 2005)This paper is an assessment of the quality and effectiveness of the education systems of the Tibetan and Palestinian refugees in their respective host countries of India and Lebanon. This paper gazes beyond the initial emergency phase and into the realities of such refugee camp 'education systems' and the outcomes of such systems vis--vis host nation and international aid community responses to the long-term nature of these camps.
Individual Education Profiles: A Case of Best Practice During Emergencies
To facilitate the process of tracking vulnerable childrens backgrounds and their academic progress, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aaghai (ITA) introduced the use of Individual Education Profiles (IEPs) or Munfarad Jaiza Record in projects supported by UNICEF and SC UK in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) region. This document describes IEPs and illustrates how they can be used as a useful tool for working with vulnerable children in areas of emergency and reconstruction. Teacher Compensation case study-War Child Holland, DRC
This case study was submitted by Eveline Jansveld and Nicola Reiss on a programme implemented by War Child Holland in Bukavu, DRC. War Child Hollands programme in Bukavu was first implemented in 2007 and is ongoing in a context of chronic crisis where they are building the capacity of six local NGOs who work with marginalized children and youth.

The Forgotten States: Aid Volumes and Volatility in Difficult Partnership Countries
This summary paper was prepared by Levin and Dollar for the DAC Learning and Advisory Process on Difficult Partnerships. The previous study was from 1992-2002 and this study paper was prepared in 2005. This paper summarizes the findings of data analysis conducted for the DAC LAP on aid allocations in difficult partnerships. Difficult partnership countries (DPCs) they define as countries with weak policies and institutions that put forward challenging environments for aid programs.
Sample Emergency School Assessment
This tool provides a sample, adaptable framework for an assessment of school and learning needs, including school level, enrollment, infrastructure, subjects, teachers, school resources (building, furniture, textbooks and school supplies, water and sanitation facilities, school feeding programmes), and support structures, such as extra-curricular activities, community involvement and UN or NGO support.
