Quality Education Task Team for Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery
From its onset, INEE has emphasized the need to ensure quality of education in crisis and post-crisis settings. Most recently, INEE undertook a consultative process to develop the INEE Guidance Notes on Teaching and Learning in 2009-2010. Likewise, INEE members have named quality education as a key strategic area for INEE’s 2011-2013 Strategic Plan, ultimately calling for the creation of an INEE Task Team on Quality Education

INEE Task Team on Quality Education in Preparedness, Response and Recovery officially launched on International Literacy Day, September 8th 2011! Those interested in participating in this Task Team are requested to contact taskteams@ineesite.org for more information. As a first step in the formation of the task team a preliminary mapping document has been created with inputs from INEE technical experts. This document highlights global initiatives, challenges and gaps focused on Quality Education and will help inform the task team’s work plan.

Task Team Goals and Objectives
Goal: To improve the quality of teaching and learning in situations of preparedness, response and recovery.
It is foreseen that the INEE Quality Education Task Team will seek to:
- Support the dissemination, implementation and training on the INEE Guidance Notes on Teaching and Learning, along with other relevant INEE Guidance Notes and resources (i.e., the Guidance Notes on Teachers Compensation).
- Coordinate with the INEE Working Group on the Minimum Standards to incorporate modules on teaching and learning within Minimum Standards trainings and application visits as needed.. The task team will also link with the INEE Working Group on Education and Fragility and other task teams where relevant.
- Provide feedback into upcoming revisions of the Guidance Notes on Teaching and Learning and Resource Pack.
- Pilot the Guidance Notes on Teaching and Learning Teachers User’s Guide within their organizations.
- Develop contextualization or application tools and tips for the Guidance Notes on Teaching and Learning as well as other relevant tools and resources.
- Link existing good practice guidance to field level implementation through mechanisms such as the Education Cluster and quality education initiatives.
- Leverage policy and advocacy opportunities to raise awareness about the good practices in the Guidance Notes to a broader audience.
- Engage in research in order to gauge the usefulness, effectiveness and impacts of the Guidance Notes and to ensure a broader presence in the teaching and learning/quality education dialogue.
However, as with all INEE Task Teams, members of the Task Team will decide on specific areas of work and the ways in which this work will be taken forward.
