Policy Roundtable 2006 Teacher Compensation

Roundtable on Teacher Compensation in Fragile States, Situations of Displacement and Post-Conflict Return

World Bank 11 October, 2006

The outcome document details the findings and recommendations from this forum, including good practices and lessons learned from case studies on teacher compensation in Liberia, South Sudan and Darfur as well as discussion and recommendations from working groups focused on (1) teacher motivation; (2) government structures, policies and regulations, and roles and responsibilities of non-state implementing actors; and (3) donor strategies, funding mechanisms, and benchmarks.

The roundtable highlighted the need for more research on existing experiences and best practices on teacher compensation as well as the need to develop a clear set of guidelines.
