INEE Minimum Standards Update Focal Points (June-December 2009)

Specialists in each of the 10 areas  requiring particular strengthening in the updated Minimum Standards have been identified to act as focal points. Each focal point works by email and teleconference with a reference group of other experts in that area drawn from a variety of organizations and geographic locations. They discuss and agree on changes to the INEE Minimum Standards, based on feedback from the consultative workshops and their own experience. Focal points will themselves lead some consultative workshops, to feed into their suggested changes. These ‘thematic’ focal points met in-person in June 2009, when they agreed on a set of principles for the INEE Minimum Standards Update process. For more information about this meeting, please read the Focal Points Meeting Report. In addition, focal points for each of the categories of the INEE Minimum Standards Handbook will be identified from the new INEE Minimum Standards Working Group, that will start work in September 2009. These ‘category focal points’ will work with the thematic focal points to complete the updating of the text of the Minimum Standards Handbook by the end of 2009. As part of that process, thematic and category focal points will meet in October 2009.
