INEE Tools Launch - Nairobi, Kenya

The regional launch in Nairobi, Kenya on July 30, 2010 brought together over 70 participants attending from various NGO’s, UN and civil society organizations, the University of Nairobi and some research institutes. Participants represented organizations working in countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia,Sierra Leone, Chad, South Sudan, Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe, making the launch a truly regional event. This event was hosted by Save the Children, UNHCR, UNICEF and World Vision with facilitation provided by Oxfam, International Rescue Committee and Save the Children.

Participants celebrated the release of four major tools focused on improved educational preparedness, response and recovery, and actively engaged in a three hour interactive event, which included:

  • An official launch and overview of four new inter-agency tools;
  • A choice of four orientation workshops on the new tools;
  • Discussion of next steps for improved educational preparedness, response and recovery;
  • Opportunities to interact and network with regional education in emergencies actors;
  • An introduction to INEE, a global open community with a vast range of resources and collaborative initiatives to be explored.
